Southern Utah is known for its breathtaking scenery, majestic red rocks, and awe-inspiring slot canyons just waiting to be explored. Join us at Altura Adventures as we conquer the canyons with hands-on instruction- from rappelling to rope set up, to other critical canyoneering skills.

All instruction takes place in actual slot canyons to allow you to gain confidence quickly in your new skills, all while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Our programs are open to beginner and intermediate adventurers, with canyon selection based on course level. Altura Adventures also offers private small group instruction for a customized experience.

Level 1: Technical Canyoneering

The technical canyoneering course teaches students the fundamental skills needed for canyoneering, including safety, teamwork, and canyon skills. While it is suitable for beginners, it is also for those with some canyoneering experience but no formal training.

Level 2: Advanced Canyoneering

The advanced canyoneering course is designed to take you beyond the basics and prepare you for the next level of canyoneering. You will learn technical skills to become a competent and safe canyoneer and prepare you for the unique challenges of advanced canyons. Escape potholes, safely navigate multi-pitch rappels, ascend ropes, and much more.

Level 3: Canyon Rescue

The canyon rescue course will prepare you to know how to react and what to do when things don’t go as planned. It will teach you the skills necessary to perform immediate in-canyon self-rescues and partner rescues and how to assist in group emergencies using the gear you already carry.

Taking this course provides an exciting opportunity to introduce children to the thrill of canyoneering in a safe, guided setting. You’ll learn everything you need to know about techniques, equipment, and safety protocols, ensuring that both you and your kids can enjoy the adventure with confidence.
